Pray for a pencil and receive a school bag

We provide for the children, but we also want to teach them to come to God with their needs and experience their own miracles.

This is what happened: Two brothers, among our little friends in the choir, Christian and Dimitri, didn’t have any pencils. They told us about it during a tutoring session. One day, the boys didn’t go to school because they were missing a notebook costing 100 CFA (less than $0.25 USD). That day, although I had pencils at home, I didn’t feel led to give them to the boys. Instead, I invited them to pray for their need—and that’s what we did. We prayed and thanked God, and then I let them go!

The next day, at tutoring time, they arrived—each carrying a beautiful backpack on their backs. I asked what had happened. One of their uncles had come to visit and gave their mother what was needed for school. Hallelujah! They were beaming with joy… and so were we!!!

We reminded them of the prayer from the day before and how God had given them more than they asked for. They were very proud. We joyfully thanked God while the other children shared in the joy and amazement!
